Selecting an Archived Database in RISC

NEXT

Each year, it is strongly recommended that you archive your current RISC Database and start the new year with a fresh database.  But that doesn't mean you can't access RISC records from previous years.  It's a simple matter of opening the Archive option and choosing the specific school year needed and performing a search by student name, teacher, grade/year, some text in the description or action fields or a combination of any or all!

You have access to the table views, exporting to MS Excel and retrieving old Contact Reports attached to specific contacts.  By using archived databases, you keep your current database populated with only the latest information and not filled with old data, but you still have the ability to retrieve the old stuff whenever you need to.  The process for archiving databases is in the RISC Help System.

And in a networked situation, several people can be working on the current database, while others are looking through archived databases.  A student's RISC record of every incident involving contact with staff members can be recorded and retained for the whole time they are at your school, and beyond. All archives are read-only as well, so no historical data can be changed.

But remember, RISC is a database tool.  How you use it and what it does for you is totally dependent on how you choose to set it up and the data you enter into it.  Let's now take a look at the Options Menu!
