The RISC Table View Showing All RISC Records

NEXT

The Table View is now shown and it displays every RISC record in the current database.  In this case, it is showing 509 records.  There can be up to 2,000 records shown in any one Table View, but a single RISC database covering a whole year can handle up to 64,000 contact records.  The records here are shown from newest to oldest, with the newest at the top.  As we saw earlier, to get the full details of any one contact, just double-click on the contact number desired.  You can always jump back to the table view (which doesn't get closed until you close it), to open another contact record.

You'll notice that contact record 1508 is marked as "Deleted Record" - this was a saved record, which was either inadvertently or incorrectly entered and it was decided by the school that it should be deleted from RISC. The deletion of records can only be performed by a RISC administrator with the appropriate administrator password. This is a new function in RISC v9.

Looking closer at this Table View, you'll notice that Contact numbers 1497 through 1500 seem to relate to four students who have all been caught doing the same thing.  They were all together, out of bounds, in the staff carpark.  Creating the same contact record for several students in RISC is very easy.  Starting with a blank form, find the first student name, fill in the form with the details of the contact and Save the record.  Then, by clicking the Clear Form button just once, you only remove the Student Name, parent details and Contact No. from the top.  Type in the next student surname, press Enter and their name and parent details will be shown.  Just click the Save New Contact button and a new Contact No. will be recorded.  Repeat this process for the other students involved.  In less than one minute, all four of these contact records would have been stored.  What's more, on a network, with access to RISC from across the school, contact records can be being added simultaneously, while others are searching the database, while others still are producing Form Letters.  All of this is developing a powerful student management tool unlike anything you would have seen before.

OK, there are over 500 records here.  Wouldn't it be good to know how many records there are for each student?  The answer to that question is just one click of the mouse away.

(it's at the bottom-left of the form)
