RISC Student Alerts and Notes RISC v9 introduces a new concept for RISC - Student Alerts and Notes - or in plain English, the "sticky notes" window. Often, teachers are put into the position of dealing with a student of whom they have little background knowledge. It would help to know if a student was on a behaviour contract or there were underlying issues which may explain an incident. That's where the RISC Student Alerts and Notes can help. Rather than entering information into a specific incident contact record, you can enter alerts and notes into a separate window which will always appear of the screen whenever that student is called up in RISC.
As can be seen above, the RISC Student Alerts window appears on top of the RISC Quick History. It can be independently moved around on the screen and can even be closed if desired. Here we can see some important information (alerts) about Rebecca. These alerts can be added to, updated and removed as necessary - BUT ONLY BY A RISC ADMINISTRATOR or EXECUTIVE user. Normal RISC Editors or Viewers can only read the Alerts and Notes, but cannot save any changes they make to the tabs. The tabs themselves can store up to 2,000 characters each (a scroll-bar will appear for longer entries). If changes are made by a RISC Administrator or Executive, the Save Changes to RISC Alerts must be clicked before moving to a different record. The Save Changes button saves the changes on all three tabs in one go. The tab titles "Alerts" and "Notes" shown here can be customised in the RISC Preferences screen, so they can be made to record whatever information you'd like. Details for doing this can be found on the RISC Preferences page. The Alerts tab should be used to show the most important or useful information about a student when that student is called up in RISC. This tab will always be shown "on top". Less vital information can be added to the Notes tab as shown below.
The third tab, called "Levels" is explained on the RISC Student Levels page.
